OSable

Discover Your OS

Our project mission is simple. We want to guide new users to the right OS (Operating System) for them without any hassle or make their current system better suited to their needs.

We work out which OS and version is the best for you from a few simple questions, after which we give you a tailored, simple guide and information to get started right away powered by our server computing framework.

We pledge to never sell your data.

OSable is a British project with the main goal of identifying the best computer OS (Operating System) for our users via our web tool and helping them install it with a little help from OSable and our high-level of expertise. If our tool identifies that an OS you use currently is the best for you, we have developed a lot of optimisation and tweaking scripts (all open-source for greater transparency) which can allow you to unlock your computer’s full potential and make your computer work with you as opposed to against. For more information, be sure to check out our ‘About Us’ page by clicking here.

You can find information about our team here.

We created OSable as we wanted to help the general population with their computing in an easy, accessible way. We know how confusing computers and all the OSes that run them are. Most people don’t know that many different types of OS exist for their machine, they only know Windows. We want to help people find their right OS with our tool and if that OS happens to be Windows, for example, that they are currently already using, they can use our open-source scripts to limit the telemetry and the hidden bloat in Windows, for example.

OSable is entirely funded by ‘tips’ from satisfied users and is currently run by our team of hard-working volunteers located up and down Great Britain with an international team contributor based in the United States of America. All of our team have a great interest in Cyber Security and are keen on collecting as little personal data as we can with this project because we feel greatly uneasy at the IT market’s habit of selling personal data to brokers for a price. In addition, you can view all our Open-Source code on GitHub to allow for greater public scrutiny and transparency of our data practises. Our data policy can be viewed in more detail here.
